When Nokia’s Booklet 3G laptop/netbook/whatever-you-want-to-call-it was first announced last week, we were pretty impressed. Surprisingly so, in fact. We knew a Nokia laptop was on the horizon but we really expected it to be a boring, inexpensive “me too” offering intended to make Nokia’s entry into the notebook space a simple and attainable one. As it turns out, the exact opposite is the case — the Nokia Booklet 3G is anything but simple, it’s anything but boring and with the announced price of 575€ ($817 USD), it’s anything but inexpensive. Now that Nokia World ‘09 is here and the Booklet 3G’s specs have been revealed, we’re even more bowled over than we were before. The bottom line is that the Booklet 3G is a Windows 7-powered beast with an insane 12 hour battery life (and that’s supposedly usage time, not standby), admirable specs and a design that’s just begging to be ogled. Yep, we need it. Hit the jump for the full specs along with a new promo vid and a brief video interview with the designer.

Boom: Apple netbook in Q3 — that’s the rumor being spread by the Commercial Times / DigiTimes tag-team of electronics tattlers. Apparently, Wintek will supply the touch-panels to Quanta computer who’ll be tasked with assembling Apple’s netbook. Take this one with a grain of salt though — while these two Taiwan-based magazines tend to be accurate with insider info related to Taiwan-based companies like Acer and ASUS, they can often be wide of the mark with rumors related to foreign companies. Unless of course we missed the launch of the Blu-ray Xbox 360 and G5 PowerBooks.

It’s been just about ten full months since Myka’s BitTorrent box was formally introduced to Earthlings, but it seems like the wheels are finally turning on production way across the way in China. According to a promising update on Myka’s official website, “production is in full swing,” which means that boxes should start arriving to eager consumers in around four to six weeks. For those unaware, this here box pulls down torrents as you sleep and then plays ‘em back nicely on your connected HDTV. Users can also load up additional media on the inbuilt 80GB, 160GB or 500GB hard drive, but first you’ll need to hand over $299, $349 or $459 depending on just how capacious you like your media servers.

According to Hearing Components, their new Comply NR-10 Earphones can deliver more than 48 decibels of noise reduction using the same technology enjoyed by the US Army and Special Forces. They were also designed to “maximize bass response and deliver superior sound quality.” At $80, it would seem like a decent value—if they worked. Fortunately, the folks at iLounge took them for a spin and weighed the pros and cons.

First and foremost, they loved the foam tips, claiming that they provided all of the benefits and none of the major negatives of their predecessors. As for the sound, they noted that these earphones would be a viable alternative to similar offerings by Bose—which is a pretty flattering endorsement. On the negative side, they weren’t impressed by the overall look of the NR-10′s and they felt that the bass-heavy sound could be a bit much for some listeners. However, the overall verdict was that the NR-10′s were impressive, proclaiming them as a “good value for the dollar.” Hit the link for the full review

If you want to purchase the earphones go here http://www.complyfoam.com/noise-reduction-earphones/nr-10-noise-reduction-earphones/

The Myka is what many Torrent fans have been waiting for—a device that makes it easy to download torrents and play them on your living room TV. You can connect to the internet via LAN or WiFi, it has HDMI, Composite, S-Video and SPDIF ports (nice), your choice of 80, 160 or 500 gigabytes (and USB expansion) and the Linux OS with pre-installed BitTorrent software. You can even transfer videos directly from your computer. Prices are going to fall between $299 and $459, which is more than the Apple TV, but something tells me that there is some built-in value there

If you happen to own an iPhone, and you happen to have updated to the 1.1.4 firmware, you can now easily jailbreak, activate, and unlock your phone with a couple of simple solutions. As you may have heard, iNdependence 1.4 beta 5 is out, which will do all sorts of non-Apple approved things to your device from OS X, though if you’re looking for the ultimate cross-platform solution, you probably can’t do better than the latest version Zibri’s all-in-one package, Ziphone 2.5. Both apps make it about a million times easier than this was a few weeks ago, though we’ve seen video of a new solution — jailbreaking directly from iTunes — that could make this process even simpler (though considerably more illegal). Check that out after the break and get a glimpse of your deviant future.
